Author Guidelines

EDUDEENA (Journal of Islamic Religious Education) is published twice a year, June and December, by the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Kediri, Indonesia. EDUDEENA accepts research-based articles on The Thought and Learning of Islamic Religious Education which have not been previously published, nor is it under review or consideration for book chapter or journal publication elsewhere. Manuscripts submitted to EDUDEENA should conform the following guidelines:

1. Manuscript and File Type

Manuscript should be written in multiple-spaced at 1,15 using essay style academic English on B5 paper (with 2,5 cm from all margins) in Microsoft Word program (.doc, .docx, or .rtf), in size 11,5 of Book Antiqua font, and on 4000-7500 words in length excluding title, abstract, keywords, and references.

2. Manuscript Format

a. Title, abstract, and keywords

The title of manuscript submitted to EDUDEENA should not exceed of total 15 words followed by an abstract of approximately 100 until 200 words underneath. The author should also provide 3 until 5 keywords underneath the abstract.

b. Subheading

The subheading of the manuscript for EDUDEENA is adjusted as follows:

- Level 1 headings are typed in ALL CAPITAL, SIZE 11,5, BOLD, LEFT MARGIN

- Level 2 headings are typed in Capitals-lowercase, Size 11,5, Bold, Left Margin

- Level 3 headings are typed in Capitals-lowercase, Size 11,5, Italic-bold, Left Margin

c. Format

The article should cover: (a) Title; (b) full name(s), affiliation(s), and e-mail of author(s); (c) Abstract, which includes objectives, method, and findings of research; (d) Keywords; (e) Introduction, which includes research objective(s); (f) Literature Review; (f) Method; (g) Findings and Discussion; (h) Conclusion; (i) References; and (j) Appendix, if any.

Level 1 headings covers: introduction, literature review, method, findings and discussion, conclusion, and references, and therefore, they should be typed in ALL CAPITAL, SIZE 11,5, BOLD, LEFT MARGIN

3. Citations and References

Manuscript submitted to EDUDEENA should conform to APA style for citations and references. The followings might be the examples of in-text citation:

Researchers have pointed out that the lack of trained staff is a common barrier to providing adequate health education (Fisher, 1999) and services (Weist & Christodulu, 2000).

The close of the millennium was marked by a deep suspicion of the natural world and an increasing reliance “upon the pronouncements of soothsayers and visionaries, who caused hysteria with their doom-laden forecasts of the end of humanity (Mulligan, 1977, p. 234).

As Murray (2005) suggests, a novice writer should think of making note on ... (p. 16).

References must consist of sources cited in the article only and should be presented alphabetically and chronologically. For example:

Gardner, H. (1993). Frames of mind: The theory of multiple intelligences. New York: Basic Books.

Romeo, K. (2008). A web-based listening methodology for studying relative clause acquisition. Computer Assisted Language Learning, 21(1), 51–66.

Thornbury, S. (1999). How to teach grammar. Harlow: Pearson Education.

4. Manuscript Submission

5. Submitted articles will be peer-reviewed and the editorial board is permitted to edit the articles to keep format consistency without changing the essence.

6. Authors whose manuscripts are accepted or rejected will get a notification from EDUDEENA editorial board. Editorial board has an authority to return the rejected articles without asserting the causes

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Please find the rights and licenses in EDUDEENA journal. By submitting the article/manuscript of the article, the author(s) agree with this policy. No specific document sign-off is required.

1. License

The use of the articles will be governed by the Creative Commons Attribution license as currently displayed on Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.

2. Author(s)' Warranties

The author warrants that the article is original, written by stated author(s), has not been published before, contains no unlawful statements, does not infringe the rights of others, is subject to copyright that is vested exclusively in the author and free of any third party rights, and that any necessary written permissions to quote from other sources have been obtained by the author(s).

3. User Rights

EDUDEENA's spirit is to disseminate articles published are as free as possible. Under the Creative Commons license, EDUDEENA permits users to copy, distribute, display, and perform the work. Users will also need to attribute authors and EDUDEENA on distributing works in the journal and other media of publications.

4. Rights of Authors

Authors retain all their rights to the published works, such as (but not limited to) the following rights;

  • Copyright and other proprietary rights relating to the article, such as patent rights,
  • The right to use the substance of the article in future works, including lectures and books,
  • The right to reproduce the article,
  • The right to self-archive the article,
  • The right to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the article's published version (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal (EDUDEENA Journal).

5. Co-Authorship

If the article was jointly prepared by more than one author, any authors submitting the manuscript warrants that he/she has been authorized by all co-authors to be agreed on this copyright and license notice (agreement) on their behalf, and agrees to inform his/her co-authors of the terms of this policy. EDUDEENA will not be held liable for anything that may arise due to the author(s) internal dispute. EDUDEENA will only communicate with the corresponding author.

6. Publication Fee

EDUDEENA does not charge a fee for article processing and/or article submission

7. Miscellaneous

EDUDEENA will publish the article (or have it published) in the journal if the article’s editorial process is successfully completed. EDUDEENA's editors may modify the article to a style of punctuation, spelling, capitalization, referencing and usage that deems appropriate. The author acknowledges that the article may be published so that it will be publicly accessible and such access will be free of charge for the readers as mentioned in point 3.


Privacy Statement

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

However, due to the advancement and availability of hacking and data mining techniques found over the Internet, EDUDEENA will not be able to guarantee that other parties will not mine our users' email addresses in any possible ways found over the Internet.
